We won’t know what will happen until when the next movie is released, but you can make your own guesses as to who actually died and who actually survived. If you think about this logically, they can’t be ‘dead’, or at least they can’t all be dead. Those left standing include: Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and M'Baku (Wilson Duke). Drax (Dave Bautista), Mantis (Pom Klementieff)… all disappear into dust too. Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), all the Guardians apart from Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), Bucky (Sebastian Stan), Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Falcon (Samuel Wilson), and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen). While we don’t see Shuri and Wong, they don’t actually disintegrate on screen so we can assume they survived for now. The shocking part is it’s not just one person that dies, quite a few of our heroes are wiped out. ![]() Then we get to the final battle and the dusting. Though we’re holding out hope for Gamora. The Collector (Benicio del Toro), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are probably now dead, as in actually dead for good. When he says “it’s the only way” this is it - giving the stones to Thanos.Įarlier in the movie we see Loki (Tom Hiddleston) die, Heimdall (Idris Elba) is also gone before the dusting. We never know what he actually sees, but we can assume that Tony needs to be alive or Strange wouldn’t have stepped in. Strange admits out of the 14,000,506 ways he saw them fight Thanos, there’s only one where they win. Doctor Strange looks ahead and sees “all the possible outcomes” of their battle. Step back a bit though, and we get some answers. It seems like a daft switch to make, especially since Strange had told Tony his priority was the stone. ![]() It all kicks off on Titan and Thanos easily beats the heroes - he’s about to land the fatal blow on Iron Man when Dr Strange steps in and offers the Time Stone to Thanos.but only if he spares Tony Stark. The plan was to separate Thanos from the Infinity Gauntlet but that doesn’t work out thanks to Peter Quill who is grieving and furious that Gamora was sacrificed so they could get the Soul Stone. At the same time his henchmen and outriders are attacking Wakanda to get the Mind Stone from Vision. He’s attempting to get the Time Stone back. Thanos is fighting Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and half of the Guardians of the Galaxy on his home turf, Titan. Dr Strange’s actions and the Time Stone.Thanos skips off to enjoy a sunset, still in possession of the stones and the Gauntlet, even though it’s damaged. He snaps his fingers and wipes out half the universe - including some of our favourite heroes (see below for who). In summary, Thanos wins the war and manages to get all six Infinity Stones. The ending crammed a lot in, so there’s a lot to unpack here. So if you don’t want to know how Avengers ended then look away. If you go on ahead, we’re warning you there are big spoilers. The end of Avengers: Infinity War changes everything for the MCU, but some fans are still a little bit confused by the big twists following the major showdown with Thanos.īut what did the ending mean for Avengers 4? After all, the team said they didn’t want to tell fans the name of the next movie as it would give away major spoilers.
